Tony Gee and Partners was commissioned by Galliford-Try Rail on behalf of Network Rail to design a road bridge at Whitacre in Warwickshire, UK, to partially replace an existing three span brick masonry structure. Using LUSAS Bridge, a two-span integral abutment bridge was designed to maintain a similar load distribution on the retained substructure as the removed arches and to also provide adequate restraint to the central pier to withstand any train collision.
